About Us

The Michigan Education Data Center is housed at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan and has two primary aims:

  1. Helping researchers to apply to use Michigan’s education data to answer today’s critical questions and improve outcomes for students in the State of Michigan
  2. Operating as a clearing house for the State’s base educational research files and loaning custom files to approved researchers

The Michigan Educational Data Center reviews all research applications, processes, stores, and distributes all data in strict compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
